Job summary

Primrose Retirement Communities in Pueblo, CO is hiring a Director of Nursing to lead the direct care staff and ensure resident well‑being. The role oversees nursing services, coordinates with other departments, and maintains compliance with state regulations.

The ideal candidate holds an active RN license in Colorado, CPR/First Aid, and demonstrates strong leadership, organization, and communication. Experience in long‑term care is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current, active, and non‑restricted nursing license in the state the community is located in.
• CPR and First Aid Certification maintained per state regulations.
• Knowledge of current state laws and regulations applicable to nursing in assisted living.
• Annual continuing education hours required for nursing license.
• Experience in long‑term care or assisted living preferred.
• Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize responsibilities.
• Leadership skills in team building, motivating others, and conflict resolution.
• Knowledge of Alzheimer’s Disease and related memory impairments.
• Ability to work primarily day hours; willingness to work varying hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensures compassionate quality care to all residents.
• Participates in recruitment and hiring of nursing personnel in a cost‑effective manner.
• Ensures timely completion of resident assessments and service plans according to regulatory timelines.
• Evaluates whether the community can meet each resident’s clinical needs, including admissions and transfers.
• Develops and implements an organized nursing system coordinating with other departments.
• Markets the community through tours, health fairs, and events.
• Maintains compliance with state regulations governing resident care and reimbursement policies.
• Monitors staff practices and implements disciplinary actions per policy.
