Job summary

Port Washington Post Acute is seeking a Director of Nursing to lead our nursing team and oversee patient care quality. The DON will set clinical goals, ensure safety standards, and guide strategic initiatives across the nursing service.

This leadership role requires an active RN license, strong regulatory knowledge, excellent communication, and experience in healthcare management. In-person work location with competitive benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• Progressive nursing experience including supervisory or managerial roles.
• Active RN license and current certifications.
• Strong clinical knowledge and regulatory understanding.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
• Familiarity with healthcare regulations and QA methodologies.
• Proficiency with healthcare management software and EHR systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership to the nursing department and set goals and strategies for patient care.
• Develop and implement nursing policies and protocols to meet standards.
• Manage staffing, budgeting, and equipment procurement.
• Collaborate with other healthcare leaders to drive organizational goals.
• Oversee clinical oversight to ensure high-quality care and adherence to guidelines.
• Monitor patient outcomes and nursing performance; drive improvements.
• Lead quality-improvement initiatives to enhance safety and satisfaction.
• Stay current with nursing practice advances and technology.
• Train and mentor nursing staff; conduct regular performance evaluations.
• Promote ongoing education and certification for staff.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and prepare for inspections and surveys.
• Maintain accurate documentation for legal and regulatory obligations.
• Advocate for patients and communicate with families.
• Coordinate care plans with interdisciplinary teams.
