Job summary
Legacy Healthcare in Illinois seeks an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our skilled nursing facility, driving clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and a culture of compassionate care.
The DON will oversee nursing operations, staff development, care planning, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, while maintaining survey readiness and improving quality measures. Excellent communication and hands-on leadership are essential.
Qualifications
- Current RN license in good standing.
- Past DON, ADON, or senior nursing leadership experience.
- Experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or post-acute settings.
- Strong knowledge of SNF regulations and quality improvement.
- Familiarity with state and federal surveys.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and staff-development skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and direction to the nursing department.
- Oversee daily nursing operations and resident care.
- Lead RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and nursing leadership.
- Monitor resident condition and clinical outcomes; ensure documentation.
- Partner with MDS, therapy, dietary, social services, physicians.
- Lead QAPI initiatives and infection control practices.
- Support nursing recruitment, onboarding, and retention.
- Maintain survey readiness and lead state/federal survey preparation.
