Summit Health Care in the Edwardsville region of Illinois is hiring a Director of Nursing (DON) to lead the clinical team and oversee resident-centered care in a skilled nursing environment.

This in-person, full-time role requires RN licensure in Illinois, strong leadership and mentoring abilities, and a commitment to regulatory compliance, quality outcomes, staffing, and collaboration with the administrator and interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Current Illinois RN license in good standing.
• Experience in DON or nursing leadership roles is preferred.
• Experience in long-term care or skilled nursing environments is preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations and standards of care.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction to the nursing department and clinical team.
• Oversee the delivery of high-quality, resident-centered care.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Support, mentor, and develop nursing staff.
• Collaborate with the Administrator and interdisciplinary team to support facility goals and quality outcomes.
• Monitor clinical documentation, care plans, and resident outcomes.
• Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
• Assist with staffing, scheduling, recruitment, and retention efforts.
• Promote a positive, collaborative, and accountable work environment.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and leadership.
