Overview

The Nursing Director of Inpatient Services provides leadership and strategic direction for all nursing operations within assigned inpatient care units, including Medical-Surgical (MedSurg), Progressive Care Unit (PCU), and Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

This role partners closely with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to ensure delivery of high-quality, safe, and patient-centered care while maintaining regulatory compliance, clinical excellence, and efficient resource utilization.

The Director assumes 24/7 accountability for the operations, staffing, and performance outcomes of designated clinical units and serves as a mentor, advocate, and role model for professional nursing practice and standards of care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide operational and clinical leadership for inpatient nursing units (MedSurg, PCU, ICU).
• Collaborate with the CNO to develop and implement nursing standards, quality initiatives, and patient care policies.
• Oversee staffing, scheduling, and productivity to ensure safe patient ratios and efficient operations.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as patient satisfaction, clinical outcomes, and staff engagement.
