Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) in Marion, Ohio is seeking an experienced nursing supervisor to oversee the medical unit and nursing staff. You will collaborate with physicians, prepare examination rooms, and ensure accurate documentation and order execution across health services.

The role requires an Ohio RN license, CPR certification, and 3 years of nursing plus 2 years of supervisory experience. A strong emphasis on HIPAA compliance and CID coordination is essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provides supervision of nursing staff and nursing care.
• Attend sick call with the physicians to see inmates; prepare the examining room and equipment.
• Call the Physician for medication and treatment orders and other emergencies.
• Examine and assess inmates with illnesses or injuries; refer to emergency room as needed and document.
• Maintain the current master list of inmates and employees with CID needs or completed CID services.
• Plan, coordinate, and implement all public health programs required by state codes.
• Perform contact investigations and maintain telephone logs.
• Coordinate CID meetings and share information with Health Services Administrator and staff.
• Operate pill cart, dispense medications, ensure medications are given and tests obtained per orders.
• Coordinate and ensure immunizations are administered and recorded.
• Provide health education individually or in groups.
• Practice cost containment and utilization management for patient care and facility operations.
• Maintain confidentiality of medical records; comply with HIPAA.
• Observe and record inmate behavior; document appropriately.
• Inspect medical unit for contraband; safely store or dispose supplies; control medications.
• Perform on-call work; provide health counseling as required.
• Assist corporate counsel with responses to inmate lawsuits.
• Support accreditation efforts (NCCHC/ACA/JCAHO) with compliant medical services.
• Prepare and disseminate safety and accident reports; act on incidents and emergencies.
• Initiate investigations, gather information, interview, and determine disciplinary actions if needed.
• Perform rescue functions during accidents and emergencies, including basic EMS tasks.
