Job summary

Canyon Vista Post Acute in Las Vegas, NV is seeking a Director of Nursing (DON) to lead the nursing department and ensure high-quality resident care. The DON will oversee staff, develop policies, ensure safety, and supervise regulatory compliance while providing direct patient care as needed.

The role requires BSN (preferred) with state licensure, and substantial nurse-management experience to drive quality and compliance across the facility.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an Accredited School of Nursing with a BSN preferred; in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.
• Minimum of 7 years nurse management experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication and policy-development skills to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PCC (Point Click Care).

Responsibilities

• Oversee and supervise the nursing department and staffing levels.
• Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures and ensure compliance.
• Ensure resident safety and respectful treatment of all residents.
• Develop and conduct in-services for the clinical staff.
• Recruit, hire and train nursing staff.
• Coordinate pharmacy services and manage medication disposal.
• Liaise with physicians, families, and the facility; participate in QA and surveys.
• Coordinate MDS and care planning; manage budgeting and reporting.
• Conduct employee appraisals and address disciplinary actions when needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and provide hands-on resident/patient care as needed.
