Canyon Vista Post Acute in Las Vegas, NV, seeks an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to assist the Director of Nursing in directing licensed and non-licensed staff who provide round-the-clock care. The role emphasizes planning, staffing, training and quality oversight within a long-term care setting.

Ideal candidates hold a BSN, maintain state nursing licensure, and have 3–5 years of nurse management experience.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred; graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
• Three to five years of nurse management experience, preferably in long-term care.
• Must be in good standing with the State Board of Nursing and maintain licensure.
• Must complete continuing education requirements as mandated.

Responsibilities

• Assist the DON in planning, developing and supervising nursing staff.
• Assist in developing and implementing nursing services, policies and procedures.
• Work with the DON to recruit, hire and train nursing staff.
• Assist with employee appraisals and disciplinary actions.
• Act as back-up for the DON, RN and LVN staff.
• May provide direct resident care as needed.
• Oversee clinical operations, including daily rounds and monitoring resident conditions.
• Ensure resident safety and preserve resident rights and dignity.
• Liaise between residents, families and physicians; attend staff meetings.
• Provide reports and recommendations to the DON on nursing services operations.
• Assist in designing, implementing and evaluating nursing systems.
