Receiving general direction from the Chief of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, the Associate Chief Nurse for Ambulatory, the MGfC Executive Director, and the MGfC Medical Director, the Pediatric Ambulatory Nurse Director oversees clinical nursing practice in the Hematology and Oncology Division, the specialty ambulatory nursing team, clinical practice, and the phlebotomy operation in collaboration with division physicians and administrative leadership. The director provides nursing leadership support for ambulatory nursing practice broadly for all of Pediatrics.
The nurse director is accountable for delivering high-quality, patient- and family-centered care, promoting career development and satisfaction among nursing and support staff, ensuring operational efficiencies and standardization, and maintaining compliance with hospital and regulatory policies and standards of practice.
Drawing on a broad understanding of hospital and physician group practices and policies, and exercising initiative and independent judgment, the incumbent collaborates closely with MGfC clinical and administrative leadership to assess and address issues related to nursing and clinical operations. The director participates in the Department of Nursing, MGfC, and MGH groups and committees. As part of the MGfC outpatient leadership team, the director emphasizes quality and safety initiatives, implementation of clinical practice standards, operational efficiencies, and standardization, while collaborating with leadership to identify and meet current and future service needs.
