Job summary

Southwest Tennessee Community College seeks a Department Head of Nursing to provide leadership, management, and advocacy within the Nursing unit. The role oversees hiring, tenure, promotion, retention, and faculty and staff evaluation.

The position is full-time, fiscal year tenure-track with supervisory responsibilities across programs, budgeting, curriculum development, and accreditation efforts. Candidates must have a TN RN license and a nursing master’s degree.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership experience.
• Knowledge of principles for curriculum and training design and assessment.
• Knowledge of business and management in strategic planning and resource allocation.
• Ability to lead strategic planning and program accreditation review.
• Ability to develop and communicate goals in support of the College's mission.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates programs; networks with community agencies by serving on committees/boards.
• Supervises development of Institutional Effectiveness departmental plans and resolves issues.
• Supervises all evaluation and personnel activities within the department.
• Prepares and delivers lecture on one course per semester.
• Serves on Division and College committees; collaborates with area colleges.
• Develops and monitors departmental budgets including grants and class schedules.
• Facilitates curriculum development; hires full-time and adjunct faculty; assigns teaching.
• Oversees curriculum implementation.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
