Job summary

Avera Health is seeking a Nursing Service Clinical Intern to assist as a mentor-guided intern, delivering nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role emphasizes teamwork, patient advocacy, and adherence to ANA standards while developing clinical skills.

You will participate in care planning, patient teaching, and ongoing assessment, with a schedule of 6am-6:30pm shifts, including every 3rd weekend/holiday rotation.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a CCNE- or NLN-accredited RN program.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and team members.
• Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions and communicating the nursing care plan to the health care team.
• Develops nursing care plans by obtaining histories, examining patients, documenting status, and coordinating with family.
• Teaches healthcare requirements by explaining conditions, medications and self-care skills to patients and families.
• Evaluates patient care by adhering to standards, reviewing records, and modifying plans as needed.
• Maintains safe patient care environment by following infection-control and medication procedures.
• Documents patient care services by charting in patient/department records.
• Keeps equipment operating by following instructions, troubleshooting, maintaining supplies, and arranging repairs.
• Keeps supplies ready by stocking and expediting orders.
