The Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters in Norfolk, VA seeks a Nursing Care Partner under clinical lead to provide compassionate patient care and support families in a busy outpatient setting.

You will perform ADLs, collect vital signs, assist with screens, venipuncture, manage data entry, and support throughput. Must have CPR and nursing education track; CHKD experience preferred; training provided.

Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Registered Nurse program with at least one semester of clinical rotation.
  • Previous Nursing Care Partner experience at CHKD (within 2 years).
  • Completion of the nursing student extern program at CHKD.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school program (without successful completion of the NCLEX board exam).
  • Certification as a nurse assistant. Certification must be maintained.
  • Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician. Certification must be maintained.

Responsibilities

Job description

Under the direction of the clinical lead, provides care and meets patient and family needs for assigned patients in a patient care area. Reports to department leadership.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Supports the patient intake and discharge process.

  • Activities of daily living to include bathing, foley catheter care, changing, feeding, ambulating patients.

  • Collection of data to include vital signs, intake and output, and growth measurements, and transfer of data to the clinical lead.

  • Venipuncture for labs

  • Facilitate throughput within the outpatient medical practice.

  • Enter patient screening forms accurately into electronic health record system.

  • Perform general administrative duties to include but not limited to faxing, scanning, filing, and copying.

  • Provides developmentally appropriate care to assigned patients.

  • Completes non-clinical duties to include patient transport, stocking of supplies, and cleaning of equipment.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

Required Licenses and/or Certifications


  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training designation is required at time of hire or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Required Education and Experience

WORKING CONDITIONS


  • Normal patient care environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Frequent exposure to communicable disease and moderately adverse working condition due to performance of certain patient care activities.
