NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn is seeking a Nursing Attendant for MedSurg Float Nights to support patient care under the supervision of Registered Nurses. The role includes assisting with the nursing process, maintaining a safe environment, and ensuring patients receive compassionate, attentive care.

Responsibilities include bedside care, rounds for toileting and safety, basic hygiene, meal preparation, and assisting with simple procedures as directed by the RN.

Responsibilities

• Assist in admission/transfer/discharge of patients and orient them to the hospital.
• Conduct patient rounds for toileting, positioning, comfort, safety, and needs.
• Set up oxygen/nasal cannula and suction equipment.
• Provide basic hygiene to patients, including bathing, denture care, grooming, and toileting assistance.
• Prepare meals and assist with feeding and mealtime setup.
• Assist with simple treatments and enema procedures as directed by RN.
• Collect specimens as directed by the RN.

Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nursing Attendant - MedSurg Float Nights. In this role, the successful candidate Assists in implementation of the nursing process by performing direct and indirect patient care to assigned patients under the supervision of the Registered Professional Nurse. Assists in maintaining an orderly and safe patient care environment and unit.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assists withAdmission/Transfer/Discharge of patients:Orients patient to hospital environment. Provides patient with toileting supplies. Assists patient to remove clothes, complete property check list and safeguard personal property through Security. Assists in transfer of patients by gatheringbelongings, completionof clothinglist and assisting in moving the patient. Prepares bedside unit to receive patients. Discharges: Assists patient to dress andpack personalbelongings. Escortspatientasnecessaryandremainswiththepatientuntilhe/shehasleftthe building.
• Conductspatientroundsfortoileting,positioning,comfort,safetyandpersonalneeds.Answerspatientcalllights and responds to patient needs promptly.
• AssembleO2(e.g.,nasalcannula)and suctionset-ups.
• Providesbasichygienetopatients:bathing,AM/PMcare,mouthcare,dentrecare,hairecare,nailandfootcare,shaving, assists patients with bedpan, urinal and/or commode.
