Job summary

Stony Brook Southampton Hospital is seeking a Nursing Assistant/Ward Clerk/EKG Tech to support the Emergency Department. The role reports to a Registered Nurse and involves bedside care, basic treatments, measurements, EKGs and clerical duties to maintain efficient patient flow.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, BLS certification and at least 6 months of healthcare experience, with the ability to lift and transfer patients.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• Current BLS provider certification from the American Heart Association.
• Minimum 6 months working experience in a healthcare setting.
• Ability to lift and transport patients.

Responsibilities

• Assist Registered Nurse with nursing care for assigned patients according to policies.
• Take and record temperatures, pulse, respirations, BP.
• Document patient care and vital signs in HIS.
• Perform EKGs.
• Ensure patient comfort, welfare and safety.
• Ward clerk duties including computer entry and ED log maintenance.
