Job summary

Stony Brook Southampton Hospital is seeking a Nursing Assistant/Ward Clerk/EKG Tech to support patient care on the assigned unit under RN supervision. Responsibilities include assisting with nursing care, taking vital signs, performing EKGs, documenting in the HIS, and maintaining a clean, safe patient environment.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, current BLS certification, and at least 6 months of healthcare experience.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• Minimum 6 months working experience in a healthcare setting.
• Ability to lift and transport patients.

Responsibilities

• Assist Registered Nurse with nursing care of assigned patients according to established policies and procedures.
• Take and record temperatures, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure in an accurate manner.
• Documents patient care, vital signs I&O in Hospital Information System.
• Performs EKGs.
• Provide for the general comfort, welfare, and safety of patients.
• Ward clerk duties as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of patient work area and patient care unit equipment.
• Respond to patient call lights promptly and provide necessary assistance.
• Other duties as deemed appropriate by Management.
