Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking a part-time CNA for the 7NW surgical unit at Royal Oak Hospital. You will assist with direct patient care, ensure safe patient transport, and support the observer role for high-risk patients while maintaining comprehensive documentation in the EMR.

The unit emphasizes bariatric, urological, colorectal, and general surgeries, with strong focus on patient safety and family-centered care. On-site schedule: days, 24 hours per week, with weekend rotation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required
• Current CNA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care according to plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy under RN supervision.
• Safely transport patients via wheelchair or stretcher and document services.
• Serve as Observer for patients requiring constant observation, in person or via remote video.
• Perform general receptionist and clerical duties to support nursing unit operations.

About The Unit

7 North West is a 33-bed unit that specializes in bariatric surgery, as well as urological and colorectal surgeries. We also care for patients following reconstructive plastic surgery and many other general surgeries. Additionally, we also take care of medical patients, particularly those with digestive and abdominal disorders. We always strive to provide the highest quality of care in a patient and family-centered atmosphere. Along with our sister unit 7 NE, we are designated as the Bariatric units at Royal Oak Beaumont and recognized with Bariatric Accreditation by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).

Scope of work

Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit. Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.
