Job summary

Essentia Health is seeking a CASUAL nursing assistant to provide direct patient care under RN supervision in Duluth, MN. Responsibilities include personal hygiene, feeding support, vital signs, and accurate charting to support safe and comfortable patient care.

The role emphasizes recognizing changes in condition and maintaining a clean, safe environment to help promote healing and well-being for patients across our health system.

Qualifications

• Casual position with at least 32 hours every 6 weeks.
• 8 weekend hours required within 6 weeks.
• 8 off-shift hours required.

Responsibilities

• Take vital signs and maintain patient records.
• Recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition to the RN.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment to promote healing.

Responsible for providing direct care to patients and serving the needs of patients in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director (possibly with guidance from an LPN) to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health.Providing personal hygiene care, assisting with nutritional needs Providing comfort care and other assistance Appropriately and safely transferring patients Taking vital signs and completing recordkeeping Recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN Maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process.

Education Qualifications:

This position is a CASUAL position. Casual Requirements of Position:

• Work at least 32 hours every 6 weeks
• 8 of those hours must be on a weekend
• 8 of those hours must be on an 'off shift'

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

Must meet ONE of the following requirements:

• 6 months of patient care experience
• Completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program
• Verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program
• Current registration on applicable state nursing assistant registry

Certification Requirements:

• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification or ability to become certified within 1 month from date of hire.
