Job summary

Geisinger Wyoming Valley is seeking a dedicated Nursing Assistant to join our team. The role supports patient care, collaborates with the multidisciplinary team, and requires reliability, punctuality, and strong attendance.

We offer a $1,500 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates, a minimum hiring rate of $16.25 per hour with higher rates for experienced staff, and up to $3 per hour shift differentials for evenings, nights, and weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) – required.
• Minimum of 1 year clinical experience – preferred.
• Basic Life Support Certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of clerical duties and direct patient care activities as needed by the unit.
• Provide patient care within the nursing assistant scope of practice and in line with the multidisciplinary care plan.
• Identify, observe, and document the physical needs of the patient according to established standards.
• Report changes in patient condition to licensed personnel timely.
• Obtain and maintain the integrity of specimens per policy, policy, and physician orders.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including patient hygiene and changing linens.
• Provide one‑to‑one patient safety watch as assigned.
• Process specimens and transport them to the laboratory promptly.
• Perform point‑of‑care patient testing and maintain instruments and quality control.
• Problem‑solve equipment and supply issues and implement corrective measures.
• Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new staff and students.
• Handle clerical duties for admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths, and facilitate patient throughput activities.
• Transcribe and process orders; release and confirm tests to appropriate departments.
• Coordinate transportation of patients to multiple tests and assist in ordering supplies.
• Communicate with food services to ensure appropriate patient diets.
