Responsibilities
- Implement the instructional elements of the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) approved Nursing Assistant Geriatric Nursing Assistant Curriculum
- Teach the CNA/GNA program
- Provide instruction, as needed, in the Patient Care Technician and Medicine Aide program
- Coordinate theory and skills instruction as dictated by the MBON
- Coordinate clinical instruction with health care facilities
- Evaluate student performance in the skills and clinical setting
Weekend and evening classes are available.
Pay
Pay rates for non-credit courses in Continuing Education are commensurate with education and experience qualifications. Salary scales are posted on the website.
Minimum Requirements
To teach the CNA/GNA Program
- Registered nurse licensed in the state of Maryland with current practice ability
- Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience, including at least one (1) year caring for the elderly or chronically ill (long‑term care) within the past five (5) years
- Minimum of sixteen (16) hours of course instruction in Principles of Adult Education or two (2) years of nursing‑related teaching experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to attend to details and multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Valid driver’s license with less than five points on a driving record (required for travel to off‑campus sites and clinical settings)
To teach the Patient Care Technician Program and Medicine Aide Program
- Registered nurse licensed in the state of Maryland with current practice ability
- Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
To teach the Nurse Support Technician program and Medicine Aide Program
- Registered nurse licensed in the state of Maryland with current practice ability
- Minimum of two years of nursing experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
To teach the Nursing Refresher program
- Registered nurse licensed in the state of Maryland with current practice ability
- Minimum of two years of nursing experience and a Master’s degree in Nursing
