Job summary

Essentia Health's St Marys Hospital - Detroit Lakes seeks a patient care assistant to provide direct care under the supervision of a registered nurse, nurse manager, or department director. Responsibilities include basic hygiene, nutrition aid, comfort care, safe transfers, vital signs, and meticulous charting.

Duties vary by unit and comply with Joint Commission standards. The position is 0.6 FTE with 24 hours per week, 8-hour day shifts, and every other weekend/holiday rotation.

Qualifications

• Nurse aide training completion or current NA registry status.
• BLS certification due within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal hygiene care.
• Assist with nutritional needs.
• Provide comfort care and other assistance.
• Safely transfer patients.
• Take vital signs and document records.
• Report changes in patient condition to RN.
• Maintain a safe, clean patient environment.
