Job summary

UC Irvine is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support professional nursing staff by taking vital signs, helping patients with hygiene and daily needs, and maintaining a clean, safe unit environment. The role includes stocking supplies, operating hospital equipment, and basic clerical tasks.

Candidates should have CN A certification or be enrolled in a nursing program, with English proficiency and current BLS certification. Weekend and holiday availability is required.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Must be able to float between Orange and Irvine locations.
• C.N.A. certification or LVN enrollment with clinicals.
• Ability to read, write and speak English effectively.
• Certified Nursing Assistant, Licensed Vocational Nurse, or enrolled in accredited nursing program with at least 1 clinical semester.
• Demonstrates effective therapeutic communication with patients.
• Acquired patient care experience, preferably in acute care.
• Current BLS certification at hire (AHA).
• Workload includes emergencies and weekend/holiday coverage.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs.
• Assist patients with hygiene and elimination.
• Maintain a clean and safe unit environment.
• Stock unit supplies and operate hospital equipment as directed.
• Perform routine clerical tasks and assist with related duties.
