Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Surgical 6 West Nursing Assistant to assist with patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will help with personal needs, comfort and safety of patients, and support routine nursing tasks.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, feeding, intake/output management, ADLs, basic clinical procedures, and infection control. The role emphasizes collaboration with nurses and staff to maintain high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Basic ability to read, write and perform basic four-function math.
• Ability to obtain knowledge of medical terminology, basic personal computer skills, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Cares for patients as delegated by the registered nurse and completes all aspects of activities of daily living for assigned patients.
• Take and record vital signs, height and weight, oxygen saturation; report unusual observations.
• Provide for patient’s nutritional needs, assist with room service, set up meal trays, and feed as required.
• Perform basic clinical procedures under supervision.
• Assist with access to non-controlled medications as delegated.
• Support safety, infection control, and patient safety as a sitter and team member.
• Assist orientation of new Nursing Assistant colleagues.
