Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health seeks a Nursing Assistant to support patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will assist with basic activities of daily living, monitor vital signs, collect specimens, and support nutrition and safety throughout the patient care process.

Undergo BLS certification within 30 days of hire. You will contribute to infection control efforts, participate in orientation, and help meet quality care standards in a busy hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days for new hires/transfers.
• Basic reading/writing ability and math skills; familiarity with medical terminology and computers.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with patients and team members.

Responsibilities

• Cares for patients as delegated by the registered nurse and completes activities of daily living.
• Record vital signs and report unusual observations to the nurse.
• Collects specimens and records intake and output.
• Assist with meals and nutritional needs; support meal setup and feeding as needed.
• Perform basic clinical procedures under supervision.
• Participate in safety, infection control, and orientation activities.
• Support patient safety by acting as a sitter when required.
• Assist with departmental orientation and other unit-based activities.
