Job summary

Greater Los Angeles VA Health Care System is seeking 1 experienced Nursing Assistant for a full-time Night Shift in Nursing Service at the Sepulveda VA Medical Center in North Hills, CA. The NA provides comprehensive care for Veterans with complex needs and supports education and mentorship within the nursing team.

Qualifications include 1 year of health care-related education or experience, English proficiency, and ability to perform ADLs, vital signs, and basic procedures under supervision.

Qualifications

• One year above high school with courses related to nursing care or health care.
• English proficiency in speaking and writing as required for VA duties.
• KSAs include range of patient care, observation, communication, and safety.
• Grandfathering provisions apply to existing Nursing Assistants in VA positions.
• Preferred: one year of Nursing Assistant experience in a care setting (CLC, LTC, or similar).

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including hygiene, feeding, and mobility.
• Perform vital signs, pain assessments, and basic neurological checks.
• Conduct non-complex procedures and simple dressing changes under supervision.
• Support complex mobility and safe patient handling with equipment.
• Document observations in the electronic health record and report changes promptly.
• Maintain infection control standards and safe environment for patients.
