RWJBarnabas Health invites applications for a Nursing Assistant II in the Medical Unit-I. This full-time evening position supports Registered Nurses with hands-on patient care, vital signs, and daily activities.

You will document in the EHR, follow infection-control protocols, and assist in care planning from admission to discharge. Required is a High School Diploma or GED and current BLS certification; CNA experience or training is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Previous nursing assistant experience or CNA training preferred.
• Full-Time Evening schedule with weekends/holidays as stated.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living activities and nursing care, including vital signs and basic procedures.
• Monitor vital signs and track patient health status.
• Document patient information in EHR with confidentiality.
• Implement infection control protocols for patient and staff safety.
• Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care.
• Support emergency response with BLS skills when needed.
• Provide care appropriate to patient age and care plans during admission to discharge.
• Collaborate with the nursing team to ensure safe transitions of care.

As a Nursing Assistant (NA), a typical day may include:

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living and providing nursing care to patients including taking vital signs, EKGS, performing phlebotomy, assisting with bedside care, i.e. bathing, mouth care, skin care.
• Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to track patient health status
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality
• Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to facility policies
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and address concerns
• Support emergency response efforts by applying Basic Life Support (BLS) skills such as CPR when needed in acute situations
• Providing patient care, based on physical, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients
• Providing for effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions
• Ongoing communication with patients and nursing colleagues regarding status of patient's care
• Participating in collaboration of our patient's plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning

To be considered for this NA opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma / GED and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. Previous nursing assistant experience or clinical experience from an accredited nursing program is preferred or a CNA certificate. This position offers a Full-Time Evening schedule from 3:00pm to 11:00pm and includes every other weekend as well as some holidays.
