Job summary

Select Specialty Hospital Birmingham is seeking a Nursing Assistant (NA) for the 7:00 pm to 7:00 am night shift at Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, AL. This full-time position offers competitive hourly pay and shift differentials for nights and weekends.

The role involves direct patient care, assistance with activities of daily living, rounds, and safe patient transport. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient bathing using basin-less bath products.
• Assist with oral hygiene, oral feeding, and hair care.
• Take hourly rounds and transport patients as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of instruments and equipment.
• Keep patient rooms clean and stocked.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Perform services for patients including bathing using basin-less bath products, oral hygiene, oral feeding and care of hair
• Participate in hourly rounds
• Transport patients to and from various treatment centers when necessary, and assist transporters in moving patients in and out of stretchers and wheelchairs
• Maintain the cleanliness of various instruments and equipment such as bedpans, urinals and wheelchairs
• Keep patients’ rooms in clean and orderly condition
• Maintain unit stock levels of supplies and equipment as directed
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED OR relevant work experience (3+ years)
• BLS is required within 90 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Hospital experience as a nursing assistant, certification as a nursing assistant or experience in a related field (i.e. medical assistant, actively enrolled RN student)
