Select Specialty Hospital in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Nursing Assistant (NA) for full-time day shifts. The role includes patient bathing, oral care, rounds, and mobility assistance in a high-quality inpatient setting.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED (or equivalent work experience of 3+ years) and BLS within 90 days. Preferred candidates have prior hospital NA experience or CNA certification and a commitment to patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient bathing using basin-less methods and assist with oral hygiene and feeding.
• Participate in hourly rounds and assist with transporting patients as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of bedpans, urinals, wheelchairs and patient rooms.
• Keep unit stock levels and perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Perform services for patients including bathing using basin-less bath products, oral hygiene, oral feeding and care of hair
• Participate in hourly rounds
• Transport patients to and from various treatment centers when necessary, and assist transporters in moving patients in and out of stretchers and wheelchairs
• Maintain the cleanliness of various instruments and equipment such as bedpans, urinals and wheelchairs
• Keep patients’ rooms in clean and orderly condition
• Maintain unit stock levels of supplies and equipment as directed
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Hospital experience as a nursing assistant, certification as a nursing assistant or experience in a related field (i.e. medical assistant, actively enrolled RN student)
