Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Nursing Assistant for the Mother/Baby Unit on a 36-hour schedule. The role supports registered nurses and nursing staff to deliver quality patient care in a busy hospital setting.

Responsibilities include assisting with admissions, discharges, ADLs, vital signs, and maintaining a safe environment, while upholding patient safety and confidentiality and following unit policies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Nursing Assistant Certification preferred; BLS required.
• Previous Nursing Assistant experience or one clinical rotation for nursing students.
• Able to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
• Able to lift, transfer and move patients.

Responsibilities

• Provides superior customer service to internal and external clients, patients, and customers.
• Performs all patient care activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Functions in the role of assistant to the nursing staff or to the Registered Nurse.
• Performs non-nursing functions which impact and contribute to the quality of patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse.
• Provides and maintains a safe and comfortable environment for the patient.
• Assists the Registered Nurse with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Assists with ADLs and documents vital signs as appropriate.
• Care for patients on precautions while adhering to safety goals.
