Essentia Health is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support nursing staff in Day/Evening rotations. You will provide personal care, monitor vital signs, assist with meals, and help maintain a safe, clean environment for patients.

Under supervision, you’ll contribute to meeting our mission of healthy differences in patients' lives, adhering to regulatory standards and hospital policies. Certification requirements include CNA preferred and BLS, with training provided for mandated certifications.

Qualifications

• Assists with daily patient care tasks under supervision.
• Takes and records vital signs and reports changes.
• Maintains a safe, clean patient environment.
• Supports nursing staff in routine duties.

Responsible for providing direct care to patients and serving the needs of patients in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director (possibly with guidance from an LPN) to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. Duties will vary by patient care unit/department and include but are not limited to:

• Providing personal hygiene care
• Assisting with nutritional needs
• Providing comfort care and other assistance
• Appropriately and safely transferring patients
• Taking vital signs and completing recordkeeping
• Recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN
• Maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process

Works within job scope to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory and accrediting agencies.

Education Qualifications

Day/Evening Rotation: Days: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm Evening 3:00pm -11:30pm

Licensure/Certification Qualifications: Certified Nursing Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health preferred, if no CNA, must be registered as a Nurse Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health within three months of date of employment. BLS certification required within 3 months after hire.

Certification Requirements: Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification or ability to become certified within 1 month from date of hire.
