Location: Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC)
Shift: Full-Time (36 hours), 3 12-hour shifts

Unit Overview:

The South Tower 5A/5C Medical Surgical units at ORMC have a maximum capacity of 52 semi-private beds (5A: 20 beds / 5C: 32 beds). We care for a diverse patient population with non-critical status, including long-term, pending placement, or skilled nursing facility needs, as well as surgical, medical management, and disease processes such as hypertension, pneumonia, COVID-19, and diabetes.

Our units also provide cardiac monitoring with remote telemetry and safely transfer critically ill patients to step-down/critical care units if necessary.

Ideal Staff-to-Patient Ratio:

  • Nurses: 5:1
  • Nursing Assistants: 8:1
  • Charge Nurse on 5A | Charge Nurse on 5C (with no patient assignment)

Position Overview:

Performs patient care under the direction and supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse.

Education/Training:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • One (1) year of nursing assistant work experience within the past five years may be substituted for completion of one of the below trainings:
    • Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Assistant Program; or
    • State of Florida Certified Nursing Assistant certification; or
    • State of Florida Licensed Practical Nurse certification

    Licensure/Certification:

    • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification

    Experience:

    • One (1) year of experience within the past five years in a relevant healthcare setting
    • No experience required for graduates of an approved school of nursing or other training programs listed above
