Job summary

UNC Health Care Hillsborough Campus is seeking a Nursing Assistant I to provide routine patient care on the 2nd Floor Family Medicine Unit, a 20-bed inpatient unit. This 36-hour-per-week rotating position includes 12-hour day and night shifts (7:00am-7:30pm and 7:00pm-7:30am) with weekend and holiday rotation, plus a week-long orientation every two weeks.

Qualifications

• Fluent in verbal and written English.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures.
• Observe, document, and report changes in patient condition to nurse/physician.
• Provide admissions, orientation, and discharge support to patients and families.
• Provide direct personal care (bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulation) per care plan.
• Perform routine tasks: vitals, specimen collection, wound care, ROM, and basic therapies.
• Assist with cleaning, stocking, and equipment sterilization.
• Reinforce patient education and distribute materials as directed.
• Support unit operations and orientation of new staff and students.
