Job description

Nursing Assistant - Full Time Days/Evenings - Intensive Care Unit - No CNA Cert Required

Join Geisinger as a Nursing Assistant in our Intensive Care Unit. We offer a competitive salary starting at $15.75 per hour, with increased rates for experienced individuals and up to $3 shift differentials for evenings, nights, and weekends. Additionally, a $1500 sign-on bonus is available for eligible candidates, along with up to $40,000 in financial support to pursue nursing education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care within the nursing assistant scope of practice, supporting multidisciplinary care plans.
  • Observe, document, and report patient needs and condition changes promptly.
  • Assist with activities of daily living, patient hygiene, and linen changes.
  • Ensure patient safety through one-to-one monitoring as assigned.
  • Handle specimen collection, processing, and transportation accurately.
  • Perform point-of-care testing and maintain related equipment.
  • Support problem-solving and troubleshooting of equipment and supplies.
  • Mentor new staff and students, fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Complete clerical duties related to admissions, discharges, and transfers, including order transcription and communication.
  • Coordinate patient transportation and communicate pertinent electronic information.
  • Assist with supply ordering and ensure proper patient diets through communication with food services.
  • Operate and troubleshoot clerical equipment, scheduling maintenance as needed.
  • Transport medications and blood products as required, following safety protocols.

Position Details:

  • Full-time, 36 hours/week, 3 shifts of 12 hours (7am-7:30pm), including every other weekend and holiday rotation.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year clinical experience preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications required.
