Job summary

Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia, MN is seeking a part-time Nursing Assistant to support nursing staff in direct and indirect patient care. The role includes assisting with ADLs, taking vitals, and ensuring patient comfort and dignity under supervision.

The position requires a nursing assistant certificate or equivalent coursework, with experience or enrollment in nursing programs; BLS certification preferred.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as a nursing assistant (six months in one facility).
• Enrollment in a school of professional nursing (LPN, RN, or NP programs).
• An approved equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

• Communicates pertinent patient information to the RN or LPN to assure continuum of care.
• Documents the various aspects of care on appropriate forms according to RMC policies and procedures.

Description

Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for assisting nursing staff in direct and non-direct patient care functions at the direction of the professional nursing staff. This includes: Support with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including but not limited to assisting patients with eating, bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, repositioning, patient vitals and glucose checks to promote comfort and maintain dignity.

Job Functions

• Assists nursing staff in direct and non-direct patient care functions.
• Obtains and articulates pertinent data in an objective manner.
• Communicates pertinent patient information to the RN or LPN to assure continuum of care.
• Documents the various aspects of care on appropriate forms according to RMC policies and procedures.
• Performs Patient Safety Attendant functions as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

*Nursing Assistants under the age of 18 are not permitted to operate patient lifts.

• Possession of a nursing assistant certificate or completion of a Nursing Assistant or EMT course

License/Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 30 days from hire
