Essentia Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide direct patient care under RN supervision in Critical Care and related units. You will assist with hygiene, nutrition, comfort, and safety, while maintaining accurate records and reporting changes in condition.

The role supports a 0.8 FTE schedule with Day/Eve/Night rotations, weekends, and holidays. BLS certification required or obtainable within 1 month of hire; multiple pathways to qualify are listed in the posting.

Qualifications

• BLS certification or ability to become certified within 1 month from hire date.
• Completion of Essentia Health Nursing Assistant Foundation course within 90 days of hire
• Enrollment into the Essentia Health Nursing Assistant Foundation Course within 30 days of hire
• Verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program
• Current registration on applicable state nursing assistant registry
• Must meet one of the following qualifications: 6 months of nursing assistant experience

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to patients under supervision.
• Take vital signs and document records.
• Transfer patients safely and assist with daily activities.
• Recognize and report changes in patient condition to RN.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment in accordance with Joint Commission standards.

Job Description:

Responsible for providing direct care to patients and serving the needs of patients in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director (possibly with guidance from an LPN) to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. Duties will vary by patient care unit/department and include but are not limited to: Providing personal hygiene care, assisting with nutritional needs, providing comfort care and other assistance, appropriately and safely transferring patients, taking vital signs and completing recordkeeping, recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN, and maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process. Works within job scope to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory and accrediting agencies.

No education requirement.
