Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred; prior nursing assistant experience may substitute education.
• Graduate of an approved Nursing Assistant Training Program preferred.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to communicate professionally with patient, family and medical personnel; ability to exercise independent judgment.
• Requires emotional stability, adaptability to change, decisiveness, and organizational leadership ability.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competency in the use of technology and computers for patient charting and related functions.
• Provides physical patient care under the direction of the Licensed Nurse.
• Assists with activities of daily living (showering, bathing, dressing, feeding).
• Communicates abnormal data (vital signs, pain) to appropriate staff.
• Collects information on patient condition: vital signs, input/output, food intake.
• Uses basic decision making to complete routine tasks.
• Participates in huddles, hourly rounding, bedside reporting, and Service Excellence initiatives.
• Collaborates with unit staff to provide coordinated patient care.
• Uses unit-specific equipment competently.
• Performs unit-specific procedures.
• Contributes to Unit PI plan; suggests improvements.
