Job summary

Essentia Health Virginia Hospital is seeking a Float Pool - Med Surg nurse aide to deliver direct patient care under supervision. You will assist with hygiene, nutrition, comfort, transfers, vital signs, and accurate documentation while maintaining a safe, clean environment to support healing.

Shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, every other weekend night, 24 hours per 2 weeks; FTE 0.3 with flexible scheduling and a supportive team. Certification: BLS required or obtainable within 1 month from hire.

Qualifications

• 6 months of patient care experience or completion of nursing program rotations.
• BLS certification or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN supervision.
• Assist with hygiene, nutrition, comfort, and transfers.
• Take vital signs and maintain accurate charts.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment for patients.

Building Location: Essentia Virginia Hospital Department: 2084130 FLOAT POOL - MED SURG - VIR HOSP Job Description: Responsible for providing direct care to patients and serving the needs of patients in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. Duties will vary by patient care unit/department and include but are not limited to: Providing personal hygiene care, assisting with nutritional needs, providing comfort care and other assistance, appropriately and safely transferring patients, taking vital signs and completing recordkeeping, recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN, and maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process. Works within job scope to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory and accrediting agencies.

Education Qualifications:

This position MUST be able to work the following:

24 hours per 2 weeks

Every Other Weekend Night Shift: 10:00PM - 6:30AM

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

BLS certified or ability to become certified within 1 month from hire date.

Must meet ONE of the following requirements:

6 months of patient care experience or Completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program or Verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program or Current registration on applicable state nursing assistant registry.
