Job summary

Essentia Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care in the St. Mary’s - Detroit Lakes MED SURG float pool. You will assist with hygiene, nutrition, mobility, and comfort, under RN supervision, contributing to safe patient handling and documentation.

The role requires BLS and nurse aide training, with 24 hours/week on day shift and participation in weekend/holiday rotation. Hiring incentive up to $1,500 is available.

Qualifications

• Duties include patient hygiene, nutrition support, comfort care, and safe transfers.
• Ability to take vital signs and document findings accurately.
• Work under RN supervision to support unit goals.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Responsible for providing direct care to patients and serving the needs of patients in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director (possibly with guidance from an LPN) to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. Duties will vary by patient care unit/department and include but are not limited to: Providing personal hygiene care, assisting with nutritional needs, providing comfort care and other assistance, appropriately and safely transferring patients, taking vital signs and completing recordkeeping, recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN, and maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process. Works within job scope to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory and accrediting agencies.

Education Qualifications

This position requires the ability to work the following schedule: 24 hours per week Day Shift (6am-2:30pm) Every other weekend and participation in a holiday rotation Hiring Incentive Eligible Position: Qualified candidates may be eligible for a hiring incentive of up to $1500.

Licensure/Certification Qualifications

BLS certification required within 3 months of hire Verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program OR current registration on applicable state nursing assistant registry
