Job summary

UW Health is seeking candidates for the Nursing Assistant Apprenticeship - Accelerated Program in Madison, WI. The position runs full‑time, 40 hours weekly, Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–3:30 pm; December 21, 2026 start date.

Starting pay is $18.25 per hour while pursuing certification through the State of Wisconsin. Participants gain hospital experience, work alongside a patient care team, and may transition to NA roles after registry.

Qualifications

• Formal acceptance into the UW Health Nursing Assistant Clinical Apprentice Program. Required
• High School Diploma or equivalent or have at least 60 credits and/or be going into their junior year of college. Preferred
• 1 year of prior work experience Preferred
• CPR/BLS certification Preferred

Responsibilities

• Participate in direct patient care tasks, processes, and procedures to assist members of a patient care team in providing a broad range of healthcare services to our patients as Nursing Assistant in a hospital setting.
• This includes assisting with activities of daily living, patient transport, and stocking.
• Demonstrate good interpersonal skills with other hospital staff, visitors, patients, and their family members.
• Upon successful completion of the program and placement on registry, participants may transfer to units throughout the hospitals in available NA positions.
