Job Summary: Geisinger is proud to offer a per diem Nursing Assistant position with market-leading pay rates, up to $3 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts, and up to $40,000 in financial support to become an RN.

Job Duties:

1. Perform clerical duties and direct patient care activities as needed, ensuring efficiency and timeliness to support quality care. Provide care for patients within the specific age range of the assigned clinical area.
2. Deliver patient care within the nursing assistant scope of practice, following the multidisciplinary care plan.
3. Identify, observe, and document patient needs, reporting changes to licensed personnel promptly.
4. Obtain and maintain specimens according to policy and physician orders.
5. Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene and linen changes, ensuring ongoing care.
6. Provide one-to-one patient safety watch as assigned, following policies and procedures.
7. Process and transport specimens to the laboratory in a timely manner.
8. Perform point-of-care testing, maintenance, and quality control of instruments.
9. Assist in troubleshooting equipment and supply issues.
10. Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new staff and students.
11. Handle clerical duties related to admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths, facilitating patient throughput and processing orders.
12. Coordinate transportation of patients for tests and communicate electronic information pertinent to the nursing unit.
13. Assist in ordering supplies and communicate with food services regarding patient diets.
14. Operate and troubleshoot clerical equipment, scheduling maintenance as needed.
15. Transport non-controlled medications and blood products as necessary, following safety protocols.

Work is typically performed in an office environment. The role involves fulfilling job-specific obligations and complying with organizational policies and procedures.
