Job summary

Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital South in Saint Louis, MO, jointly operated with Lifepoint Health, seeks a dedicated Nursing Assistant to support inpatient acute rehabilitation. You will deliver direct patient care, assist with daily activities, and help maintain a safe, clean environment for recovery.

In this role you’ll document patient information, participate in patient admission, transfer and discharge processes, and contribute to interdisciplinary care under supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Nursing Assistant Certification preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be obtained within 30 days of start date.

How You'll Contribute

A Nursing Assistant who excels in this role:

• Provides direct patient care
• Performs specific documentation in the patient's record
• Maintains equipment and supplies and participates in quality assurance
• Communicates appropriate information intradepartmental and interdepartmental
• Assists and participates in staff education and pursues continuing education for personal development.
• Applies knowledge of age-related factors appropriately to patients, utilizing appropriate policies and procedures.
• Perform basic patient care tasks including bathing, grooming, and mobility assistance.
• Provide general nursing support such as positioning, lifting, turning, and using special equipment.
• Assist with toileting needs using bedpans, urinals, commodes, or ambulation to the bathroom.
• Take and record temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, and intake/output measurements accurately and document in a timely manner.
• Prepare patient rooms for admission and transfer, ensuring cleanliness and equipment readiness.
• Maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe environment with attention to ventilation and lighting.
• Support patient admission, transfer, and discharge procedures, including handling of patient belongings.
• Answer patient call lights, phones, and pages, responding promptly and appropriately.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
