Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital - Springfield is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide high-quality patient care in an inpatient rehabilitation setting. The role emphasizes direct patient care, accurate documentation, and teamwork within a multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities include basic nursing tasks, vital signs, patient positioning, and assisting with admissions and transfers. A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, with preferred Nursing Assistant certification and BLS

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Nursing Assistant Certificate preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be obtained within 30 days.

• Maintains equipment and supplies and participates in quality assurance
• Communicates information intradepartmental and interdepartmental
• Assists and participates in staff education and continuing education
• Applies knowledge of age-related factors to patients
• Performs basic nursing tasks including bathing, grooming, and mobility assistance
• Provides general nursing support such as positioning and lifting
• Assists with toileting needs and ambulation
• Takes and records vital signs and document in a timely manner
• Prepares patient rooms for admission and transfer
• Maintains a safe, clean environment
• Supports patient admission, transfer, and discharge procedures
• Answers patient call lights, phones, and pages promptly
• Performs other related duties as assigned

How you'll contribute:

A Nursing Assistant who excels in this role:

• Provides direct patient care
• Performs specific documentation in the patient's record
• Maintains equipment and supplies and participates in quality assurance

• Applies knowledge of age-related factors appropriately to patients, utilizing appropriate policies and procedures.
• Perform basic patient care tasks including bathing, grooming, and mobility assistance.
• Provide general nursing support such as positioning, lifting, turning, and using special equipment.
• Assist with toileting needs using bedpans, urinals, commodes, or ambulation to the bathroom.
• Take and record temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, and intake/output measurements accurately and document in a timely manner.
• Prepare patient rooms for admission and transfer, ensuring cleanliness and equipment readiness.
• Maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe environment with attention to ventilation and lighting.
• Support patient admission, transfer, and discharge procedures, including handling of patient belongings.
• Answer patient call lights, phones, and pages, responding promptly and appropriately.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
