Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant (NA) at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, NJ. This per-diem evening position supports RNs by providing hands-on care, vital signs and daily living activities, and contributing to a safe patient environment.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED and BLS certification.
• Previous nursing assistant experience or CNA certificate preferred.
• Per-Diem Evening schedule 3:00pm–11:00pm with every other weekend and some holidays.
• Demonstrates compassion, teamwork, and professionalism in patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assist with vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, bedside care such as bathing and oral/skin care.
• Monitor vital signs and document in EHR systems.
• Implement infection control protocols to ensure patient and staff safety.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and healthcare providers to coordinate care.
• Provide patient care appropriate to age and clinical needs.

You'll assist with daily needs such as vital signs, mobility, and personal care, while helping RNs monitor conditions and carry out care plans. As a Nursing Assistant (NA), a typical day may include:

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living and providing nursing care to patients including taking vital signs, EKGS, performing phlebotomy, assisting with bedside care, i.e. bathing, mouth care, skin care.
• Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to track patient health status
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality
• Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to facility policies
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and address concerns
• Support emergency response efforts by applying Basic Life Support (BLS) skills such as CPR when needed in acute situations
• Providing patient care, based on physical, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients
• Providing for effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions
• Ongoing communication with patients and nursing colleagues regarding status of patient's care
• Participating in collaboration of our patient's plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning

To be considered for this NA opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma / GED and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. Previous nursing assistant experience or clinical experience from an accredited nursing program is preferred or a CNA certificate. This position offers a Per-Diem Evening schedule from 3:00pm to 11:00pm and includes every other weekend as well as some holidays.
