Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health seeks a Nursing Assistant (NA) for the PICU V at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, NJ. This Per-Diem Day shift role supports RNs with vital signs, mobility and personal care, helping deliver safe, compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and current BLS certification.
• Previous nursing assistant experience or clinical nursing program experience preferred; CNA certificate recommended.
• Per-Diem Day schedule 7:00am–3:00pm with every other weekend and some holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist with vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, bedside care, bathing and hygiene.
• Monitor vital signs and document in the EHR.
• Follow infection control protocols and maintain patient safety.
• Coordinate care with RNs, physicians, and therapy staff.
• Provide compassionate care to patients in the PICU V unit.

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living and providing nursing care to patients including taking vital signs, EKGS, performing phlebotomy, assisting with bedside care, i.e. bathing, mouth care, skin care.
• Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to track patient health status
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality
• Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to facility policies
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and address concerns
• Support emergency response efforts by applying Basic Life Support (BLS) skills such as CPR when needed in acute situations
• Providing patient care, based on physical, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients
• Providing for effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions
• Ongoing communication with patients and nursing colleagues regarding status of patient's care
• Participating in collaboration of our patient's plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning

To be considered for this NA opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma / GED and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. Previous nursing assistant experience or clinical experience from an accredited nursing program is preferred or a CNA certificate. This position offers a Per-Diem Day schedule from 7:00am to 3:00pm and includes every other weekend as well as some holidays.
