Job summary

The Salvation Army A Georgia Corp is seeking a part-time nursery aide to care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in our church nursery. Responsibilities include diapering, feeding, and ensuring safety, with attention to hygiene and comfort.

Staff will monitor daily activities and support children’s learning in a faith-based environment. Shifts run Monday and Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings, with some additional events.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; six months' experience caring for babies in a nursery or equivalent.
• Able to read, write and communicate in English; ability to observe children's safety.
• Willingness to lift and carry infants/toddlers up to 25 lbs; able to meet attendance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in a nursery.
• Change diapers and clothing; feed and clean children; ensure personal hygiene and safety.
• Monitor children's behavior and activities to maintain health and safety at all times.
• Foster learning and Christian discipleship through structured activities.
• Respond calmly to emergencies; inform management and parents as needed; maintain a safe, clean nursery.

Schedule/Hours: Monday and Wednesday – 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday – 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (Additional hours with special events)This position is responsible for:Provides care for infants, toddlers and preschoolers in a nursery; changes babies' diapers and clothes and ensures their personal hygiene and safety; feeds and cleans babies, toddlers and preschoolers; comforts and plays with children.Key Responsibilities:Monitors all children’s behavior and activities in a constant manner ensuring their health and safety at all times.Facilitates times of learning and exploration for children, providing for times of Christian discipleship.Responds to emergency situations in a calm and professional manner; notifies appropriate management and parents of any problems or incidents.Ensures the nursery is maintained in a safe and clean manner at all times.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Ability to meet attendance requirements.Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.Ability to observe children and endure their safety.Ability to lift, hold, and carry infants and toddlers on a continuous basis weighing up to 25 lbs.Duties are usually performed by combinations of siting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.High school diploma or G.E.D. required ANDSix months experience caring for babies in a nursery environment ORAny equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Licenses and Certifications:None.*This position requires a level 2 background screening.
