Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Nurse Unit Manager to supervise and coordinate unit staffing while providing leadership to ensure implementation of clinical objectives and high-quality patient care in the assigned area.

You will assign and monitor nursing and support staff, participate in performance evaluations, assess daily patient needs, and develop care assignments. You’ll evaluate outcomes, handle care complaints, and may help with hiring and staff development.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of cumulative job-specific experience required.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• RN license issued by the Texas Board of Nursing before hire date.

Responsibilities

• Assigns, directs, educates and monitors nursing and support staff during assigned shift. Contributes to or performs performance evaluations of staff.
• Assesses daily patient care needs and distributes assignments to ensure population-appropriate care.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and identifies issues affecting outcomes.
• Responds to patient care complaints and manages through established channels.
• May contribute to hiring, training, directing, development and evaluating staff.
