Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in MA.
• Peripheral IV certification.
• Two years of clinical nursing experience.
• One year of management experience preferred.
• One year of geriatrics and subacute population experience.
• CPR/BLS certification.
• English language proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily nursing care delivery and staff performance per policies.
• Plan and conduct regular shift staff meetings to improve services.
• Identify problems in care delivery and implement corrective actions.
• Submit written and oral reports to the Director of Nursing as needed.
• Coordinate nursing services with other resident services for continuity of care.
• Investigate accidents with staff interviews and data gathering.
• Explain nursing policies to staff, residents, visitors, and agencies.
• Develop work assignments and support task completion.
• Delegate administrative authority to Charge Nurses as needed.
• Make daily rounds on assigned units at shift start and end.
• Follow up on complaints and take corrective actions.
• Ensure emergency equipment checks occur each shift.
• Maintain resident environment as clean and safe.
• Participate in orientation for new nursing staff.
• Complete performance evaluations and initiate disciplinary actions when needed.
• Ensure nursing personnel comply with policies and dress code.
• Schedule adequate nursing staff for each shift.
• Plan unit-based in-services and monitor equipment use.
• Recommend equipment and supply needs to Director of Nursing.
• Monitor and prevent waste of nursing supplies.
• Arrange repair or replacement of equipment when necessary.
• Oversee safe, efficient, customer-oriented nursing care.
• Inform staff of new admissions and arrival times.
• Visit residents on report to assess status.
• Review nurse notes for accuracy and descriptiveness.
• Start and restart IVs when ordered.
• Ensure staff follow care plans before administering care.
• Assist in monitoring seriously ill residents.
• Ensure medication procedures comply with policies.
• Review MAR for accuracy and orders.
• Inspect treatment areas daily for cleanliness and safety.
• Consult with residents, families, and physicians on care planning.
• Assist with hospital transfers logistics.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and facility surveys.
• Attend and participate in Infection Control, Safety and PI committees.

Education
