Highpoint Health Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas is seeking a Nurse Tech in the Medical Surgical unit. This PRN/Variable role supports RNs, monitors vitals, assists with daily activities, and helps maintain a safe, clean care environment.

The position emphasizes teamwork, patient observation, and adherence to hospital standards, with opportunities for ongoing education and competency validation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Handle with Care certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Monitors and records vital signs, intake and output, and reports changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, and ambulation.
• Observes and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings.
• Maintains patient rooms and common areas to ensure a clean, safe, and organized care environment.
• Supports nursing and physician staff with patient care activities and unit workflow.
• Manages tech desk operations and assists with maintaining efficient department throughput.
• Documents patient care and activities in accordance with hospital and unit standards.
• Participates in required education, competency validation, and performance improvement activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
