Job summary

Corewell Health’s Gerber Hospital in Fremont, MI is seeking a Nurse Technician for the Med Surg Care Unit 3E. You will support RN staff with patient care, take vitals, assist with mobility, and help with wound and catheter care during night shifts.

This full-time role offers comprehensive benefits, on-demand Payactiv, discounts, identity protection, and retirement plans. Night shift is 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., 36 hours weekly, with variable weekend days.

About The Unit
Gerber Med Surg is 13 beds. 4 are observation and 9 are inpatient. The unit is currently undergoing a refresh, new paint, flooring, and artwork in the halls and patient rooms, in addition to a new nurse's station, breakroom and staff bathroom. Gerber Med Surg is home to our largest patient population and is a cornerstone of the hospital. We offer telemedicine services in pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, and wound. Coming soon to Gerber are telemedicine palliative care services. We have MRI services 6 days a week, CT, fluoroscopy, general and orthopedic surgery, care management, medical social workers all on site, a huge push for the Gerber team is to help keep quality care local.

Gerber ICU is 11 beds, 2 of those are observation beds, 9 are inpatient beds. The ICU is going to be refreshed with new paint, flooring, and artwork. It is a mixed unit, so Med/Surg and ICU patients are both present. We offer telemedicine services in pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, wound, and VICU. Coming soon to Gerber is telemedical palliative care services. We have MRI services 6 days a week, CT, fluoroscopy, general surgery, and orthopedic surgery, care management, medical social workers all on site. A huge push for the Gerber team is to help keep quality care local.

Scope of work
Nurse Technicians act as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients. Cleans patient’s environment / work area / equipment and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department / unit personnel. Demonstrates a high standard of moral and ethical behavior. Advocates for privacy, confidentiality and security of patient, staff and organization data.

Qualifications

• Required High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Cert required within 90 days
