Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution Mercer, is seeking a Registered Nurse Supervisor to lead nursing care for the inmate population. You will supervise staff, guide daily operations, and ensure high clinical standards in a corrections setting.

This role requires PA RN licensure, a minimum of three years' RN experience (or four in related care), and the ability to perform essential functions.

Qualifications

• Three years as a Registered Nurse or four years of professional nursing experience.
• Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
• If you possess an active temporary practice permit, you must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within one year.
• PA residency requirement is waived for this title.
• Required completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee nursing staff, provide training, schedule coverage, and guide daily operations.
• Assist with assessments, treatments, medication administration, and patient education.
• Respond to medical emergencies, provide first aid, and support clinical decision making.
• Document care, review medical records, and prepare reports for patient movement or release.
• Maintain inventory, sterilize equipment, and ensure treatment areas remain fully stocked.
• Attend training, stay updated on policies, and maintain required job skills.
