Job summary

Dignity Health Memorial Hospital in Bakersfield, CA is seeking a Nurse Shift Manager to oversee a frontline nursing team on a busy unit. You will supervise staff, assign patients by acuity, and ensure care quality while aligning with department goals.

The ideal candidate has an ASN or higher, RN license in California, BLS/CPR and ACLS, and strong communication skills to lead discussions and hold tough conversations with staff and leadership.

Qualifications

• ASN in Nursing required or equivalent.
• California RN license required.
• BLS/CPR required at hire.
• ACLS required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Supervises nursing staff on a shift, assigns patients by acuity and staff skill.
• Monitors and educates staff on patient care; institutes emergency procedures as needed.
• Anticipates staffing needs and reallocates resources as necessary.
• Oversees supplies and maintains accurate patient records for the next shift.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Nurse Shift Manager, you'll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. Your previous experience in acute care, LTC, or nursing homes adds tremendous value to our nursing team.

Every day you will advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department's operational goals and objectives.

To thrive in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups. It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.

• Supervises nursing staff assigned to a particular shift. Assigns patients to available nursing staff, taking into consideration the patient's condition and the employee's skill level.
• Assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.
• Anticipates staffing needs and moves proactively to respond to them.
• Oversees stocking of supplies and updating patient records to ensure that the nursing floor is ready for subsequent shifts.

Job Requirements

Required

• Associates Of Science Nursing and Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse, upon hire
• Registered Nurse: CA, upon hire and
• Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, upon hire

Pay Range

$52.22 - $85.32 /hour
